The last few months have been incredibly successful for Business Academics and highlight the School’s growing reputation for high-quality research. Here is a round-up of the fantastic work being done by lecturers:

• Dr Hossein Hassani has been working with a team which is investigating the Buruli ulcer, a disease prevalent in developing countries that could be spread by changes in rainfall patterns. Read more.
• A team led by Professor Jens Holscher has recently won a research bid to provide seminars addressing access to finance for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The seminars will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the most pertinent issues of SME finance and credit risk, with a view to developing new research and policy agendas relevant to lenders and regulators. • Dr Julie Robson was the Conference Chair for the prestigious Academy of Marketing’s 2014 Conference here at Bournemouth University. The Conference included presentations and papers from many Business School Marketing lecturers. Read more.
• Argyro Karanasiou, a member of CIPPM and Lecturer in Law at BU, was invited by the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe) Representative on Freedom of the Media to join the expert meeting on Open Journalism. Presentations and discussions focused on new ways to protect media plurality and the rights of non-traditional voices online. Read more.
• Dr Sascha-Dominik Bachmann, Associate Professor in International Law, was invited to present as a panel member the subject of Hybrid War/Threats/Ecothreats and Armed Conflict at the 5th International Symposium on Security and Military Law 2014 (the ISSML), held on September 25-27, 2014 in Seoul and organized by the Office of Judge Advocate General, Republic of Korea Army.
