Bournemouth University is hosting the second workshop under ESRC Seminar Series grant entitled Transformations in Global Governance: Integration via Free Trade Agreements (GIFTA) in London on 30 June and 1 July 2015.

The interdisciplinary workshop will focus on EU Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and cover following issues:

  • Rationale for EU’s negotiation of FTAs with Asia and USA;
  • Social, economic, political, geo-political and political economy aspects of EU’s FTAs;
  • Role of EU’s new generation trade agreements under ‘Global Europe’ strategy and foreign policy.

The workshop aims to generate debate among experts and build young researchers’ capacity studying trade governance patterns and the effects of new generation FTAs on partner and third countries.
