Bournemouth Chamber Music Society presents: Pro-Musica String Trio

Sunday, 7 February 2016 from 15:00 to 16:30 in Kimmeridge Hall

pro-musica-trio About the event

Bournemouth Chamber Music Society present the Pro-Musica String Trio. It is rare to find film composers featured in Chamber music concerts, but some of them came from a more classical music background. Miklos Rozsa became much admired for his soundtracks for, among others, Ben-Hur, Spellbound and Quo Vadis, and it will be fascinating to contrast this with Pro Musica’s performance of his String Trio, which reveals important facets of his Hungarian musical background.

This is an example of the wide range of music which the Pro-Musica String Trio bring to their concerts, using their wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise to promote the rather under-performed string trio repertoire, such as Gerald Finzi’s trio. By contrast, the far more celebrated Mozart Divertimento was described by Alfred Einstein as “one of his noblest works”.
