About the event
Part of Eating Disorder Week; facilitated by Sarah Clark, Support Worker and Occupational Therapy student at BU, this session will:
- Provide a personal account of how childhood trauma was one of the contributing factors to me developing anorexia, and the challenges it held in my journey of recovery.
- Give hope that despite childhood trauma you can lead a fulfilling life. Propose to talk about how I never had a proper relationship before I met my husband at the age of 25, and the challenges that this brought about.
- Challenge views that itβs something that should be talked about more, and itβs something that is often not spoken about in assessments.
- The link to body image, and how gaining weight for me made memories resurface, how anorexia kept me safe and kept me protected.
- How exercise helped me attain a more healthy body weight.
