Work on BU’s flagship New Academic Building is starting this summer on Talbot Campus. The new building will host academic and support facilities, including seminar rooms, lecture theatres, break out space and catering facilities.
This is a major step towards improving the experience at BU for both staff and students.
With works taking place over the summer, Talbot Campus will look very different when you return in September and some of your usual routes around campus may be affected.
- Fencing will surround car park A (next to Christchurch House and the Sir Michael Cobham Library) from the beginning of August, replaced with solid hoarding from September.
- The new building will be developed on this existing car park, and to replace all of the parking spaces lost, a new Park and Stride car park will be built just to the south of the campus, off Gillett Road. A new mini-link road will also be constructed to connect Gillett Road to the campus. Work to both the new car park and mini-link road will be completed and operational at the beginning of the Autumn term.
- The footpath between Weymouth House and the construction site will be closed for periods during the course of the works for site organisational reasons and re-landscaping.
We’ll keep you updated with information about how construction is going on the Student Portal and on myBU.
