We are delighted to announce that our plans to develop a new flagship academic building with state-of-the-art learning facilities have been given the go-ahead.

This is a major step towards achieving our aspiration to create world-class facilities for world-class performance – and improving the learning experience of current and future students.

Together with the new student centre, which is due to open next year, Talbot Campus is evolving into a greener and more user-friendly campus; and with the Bournemouth University International College building in Lansdowne which is also under construction, we are making significant progress towards our aspirations set out in BU2018.

This new academic building will provide an attractive landmark at the heart of the campus and, under one roof, will host academic and support facilities, including seminar rooms, lecture theatres, break out space and catering facilities.

It will mean we can vacate the temporary buildings currently in use and provide higher quality facilities for students.

Construction will get underway in the summer and is expected to take around 18 months to complete. We anticipate it will officially open in 2016.

The academic building will be constructed on an existing car park and to replace the lost parking spaces, a new landscaped car park will be provided just to the south of the campus, off Gillett Road.

A new mini link road will also be provided to connect Gillett Road to the campus.

The construction of the new car park will begin imminently and is expected to be completed by September.
